All geography graduate students that are a teaching assistant, instructional assistant, or research assistant must complete this 2-part training program. The first part occurs prior to the semester, and the second is a non-credit course, GRAD 701.
Graduate Student Health Insurance
All Geography graduate students that are enrolled in 6+ credit hours and/or are graduate assistants are required to have health insurance. The university student health insurance plan is available to all enrolled graduate students. Enrollment is required every semester. If you already have health insurance, you will need to submit your health insurance each term to avoid being billed.

The Graduate School hosts a variety of resources for graduate students including personal career guidance, assistance in grant and proposal writing, 3 Minute Thesis competition, and various trainings.
International Student Services
UofSC hosts a webpage of resources for international students, includ help with immigration advice, special progamming, cultural adjustment, and additional requirements for international students.
Travel grants are available for the geography department, and at the university level. University travel grants are for first or sole authors that are presenting their research at a conference of meeting of national/international attendance.
